Association of Washington Business: Budget special session may end this week.

A glimmer of good news on the Legislature’s largely behind the scenes budget negotiations from the Association of Washington Business. Acknowledging that little is yet certain, AWB headlines one of their weekly “fast facts” updates this way:

Lawmakers may vote on budget and end special session this week

The signs are encouraging. The Senate budget proposal took a big step toward the House position. Private discussions have been ongoing. And, AWB cites Everett Herald columnist Jerry Cornfield’s report that several legislators have been told to be ready to get back to Olympia as early as today to vote on a budget.

Still, as AWB writes,

With little being said publicly in Olympia, the question of when a budget deal will be struck – and just how “special” this overtime session will be – remains unclear.

We’d welcome both clarity and a budget. Maybe soon.
